    return of Besson brass

    Greetings Low brass people:

    It is my pleasure to join your excellent forum. I would like you all to know that I am the Brass Product specialist for Buffet Crampon USA, which means handling the Besson and Courtois brass, involved in R&D and QC. Buffet has made great strides in the last 8 months with Besson; and I am constantly surprised by the information I get in regards to avalilblilty and manufacture. We are working on parts, and I know that is a problem, a large one to address, but there is promise. The right people are in charge, and if you look at Buffet, they have a great track record in the industry.

    Finally, I am a long time trombone and euph player since my elementary school days. I spent a career in the Navy band as a trombone and euph player as well, and am still active as a player, and through the years have played some great Bessons, so I have a loyalty to the brand. I hope to be able to provide some answers (not all at once!), and hope for all of you loyal Besson players. Trust me, the task of relaunching Besson is huge, and a lot of the credit should go to Steven Meade for his persistance and to the folks at Buffet for their guidance.

    this is good stuff:

    Tim,

    Thanks for checking in! You mentioned production of parts. Based on Steven's reviews I am inferring that many parts have changed now. Are you saying that you will be producing replacement parts for the "old spec" horns? That would be a great service because there are a lot of Bessons out there.

      I guess you get this question a lot. I have heard a lot of different delivery dates for the 2052S. When do you expect them to be available for purchase here in the US? If you talk to 10 different dealers you get 10 different answers. If the dealer already has a order in place, when will they start to ship from Germany? The dealer I plan to use has several on order with some people already waiting. Will you be completely filling orders or just sending a few out at a time until everyone is caught up?
      Thank you for your insight.

      Terry

        Hi Terry:

        Sorry for the delay. Things are quite busy! I spent last week at the US Brass Open and heard some fine bands. To answer your question, availablilty for the BE2052 in silver will be the end of Feb. '07. , end of March for the lacquer. Hopefully, we will have some new product for the Midwest and NAMM shows.

        Hope this helps.

        I recieve a monthly report of availibility. They have been consistent with their forecasts. It's probably going to be worth the wait, according to Steven Meade.

        Regards, Tim
