    Salvation Army Cornet Solos

Below are some of my favorite Salvation Army solos. These were originally written or arranged for cornet, but of course they fit well on euphonium. I have used some of these in recitals and in church. These are all available now for purchase by the general public. Links are provided to the sheet music for each title.

First, here are a couple written by euphoniumist William Hines:

Balm In Gilead (solo Bb/C) By William Himes

I Love To Tell/Story (solo Bb/C-) By William Himes

This next one is a cornet duet or solo, but I have performed it with tubist Gary Buttery. The Deliverance referred to is salvation from alchohol. There is a cute little snippet of Little Brown Jug hidden within the piano part.
    Deliverance (Duet) By Philip Catelinet

All Through The Night By C. Dove
    (There and variations)

Happy All The Day By Erik Leidzen

I Know That My Redeemer Liveth By George Frideric Handel
(Simple setting of this lovely song)

Jesus Is Strong To Deliver By William Spencer
(Theme and variations. Also listen to a recording by Dave Werden)

Largo in G By George Frideric Handel
    (Simple, lovely song)

Long, Long Ago By H. Scotney
    (Theme and variations)

Love Lifted Me (solo Bb/C) By Stephen Bulla
(Theme and variations, not too difficult)

Love's Glad Song By W. Spencer

O For The Wings Of A Dove By Felix Mendelssohn
(Lovely song, but needs mature interpretation. Also listen to a recording by Dave Werden)

Twas A Very Happy Day By Arthur Bristow
(Theme and variations. Also listen to a recording by Dave Werden)

    Salvation Army Cornet Solos

    Hi David,

Thanks for posting these. I've ordered about 4 so far. But for some reason when I click on 'listen to a recording of you', I get an error... not authorized... 103. I'm logged in for sure.

    Thanks.

Rick (and others who may have this trouble),

First, you can check whether you are logged in by looking at the left side of the window. You should see your name in the colored bar and under that should be a heading for "Private Messages." If you do not see those, you are not logged in.

    If you ARE logged in:
The link to my playing examples wants to open in a new window. There is no way I can adjust that. It is pointing to the "Downloads for Members Only" section of the site, and to the topic "Dave Werden -Salvation Army Solos." By opening a new window, I suspect your browser is losing your login credentials. So I would just navigate to the section I just mentioned and you should see all the same solos there (plus a couple more).

Yep, that was the problem. Thanks. Once I navigated to that area, I could listen without problems.

    Thanx
