    New Production Besson Prestige Euphs

Steve Mead's web site shows him with an obviously new Prestige. I sent him an email asking about new production Prestige euphoniums. He was kind enough to answer, and gave me permission to post his response. Regarding the euph shown on the website and the production schedule, Steve passes on the following good news:

"The photo shows me with 'my' new euph, which was
actually the last one to be made at the Croxley Green factory in the UK, in
    December.

Buffet Crampon gave it to me and it is the one I am currently playing and
one which I am using as the standard by which to judge the new ones which
are currently being assembled for testing at the new factory in Germany. I
shall be there at the beginning of September and October and following my
October visit, it is hoped the first euphs will leave the factory around
October 10, from then on its full speed ahead and a good production
    schedule is planned."

Here is the photo I assume John saw:

And on Steve's website, he has the following little blurb (consistent with the email content):

Besson update: Steve will be testing the first prototypes of the new Besson euphoniums in Germany on September 4-6 and October 4-5 , following which it is hoped the new instruments will be released to the world! Everyone in the brass music world has been waiting patiently for the birth of the new Besson brass instruments, and soon the wait will be over.

It will be really interesting to see what a new version of an existing horn will be like. There is opportunity to rethink some things, and it will be assembled by different people. I invite anyone who has a chance to try the new production version to post about it here.

Dave, That's the picture I saw. I find it interesting that the last one make in UK becomes the standard for the German production -- maintaining continuity of the Besson sound.
