My question is this: Vibrato..
Which method do you guys and gals use? Diaphragm, Jaw, Air, shake?
and...
Which is actually the correct, or should i say, common method?
I wasnt taught vibrato by my Music directors in high school, so i just learned it through recordings and experimentation. I used air and thought it sounded perfectly fine..untill i actually started getting private lessons and my Teacher (Trombonist Joel Elias) told me to only use jaw, and i was doing it incorrectly for all those years. Nowadays i alternate.
JAW-Slow lyrical pieces and movements
AIR(Pulse)-Faster songs where a quarter note or something might need a little vibrato and my jaw cant move fast enough to produce a vibrato speed fitting to the piece.
whats your input?
