You have to start slow. I would form a "mouthpiece" with your thumb and index finger and GENTLY press it toward your mouth and buzz. Do that for a couple of weeks and then try the regular mouthpiece...

Cass, but if BJ or other brand works for you, go for it.
I don't know how old your horn is, but you might want to get some valve springs for it. I replaced mine in December and the valves were much tighter and snappier. Mine had probably not ever been...
I have a King 2280 that I got earlier this year after playing mostly Yamaha 321s over the last 3 and a half decades (with a break in there). I think it is every bit as durable as the Yamaha, sits a...
Not an equipment issue, but performance nontheless. When I was in 8th grade, we went to contest (stage and sight reading). I think it was my first performance outside the school. Anyway, we are in...
Anyone tried the Bach slide grease? I put some on my horn this afternoon (recommendation from a service tech) but don't know what to compare it to. The horn is one I bought about 6 months ago but...
That's a better view of the bag than what's on the Alteri website. I would feel more comfortable putting my horn in there than I did from seeing their other pics.
I've see WAY too many horns and other instruments bumped into, stepped on, pushed aside, etc. When I said "zero" protection, I meant protection that virtually any designed bag will or should provide....
OK -- I didn't realize the pics were in the other post. Thanks -- that's what I was looking for.
Unfortunately, this doesn't look like it would work for what I would want. I understand gig bags...
Dave, would you mind taking some pics of your bag (including with the horn), and posting them? Their website really doesn't have much in the way of visual aids -- I can't tell if the bag is much more...
Will the Yamaha springs work on a King 2280?
Dave -- why do you say you must put fabric behind the leather?
Don't think I've ever used anything but a Bach 6.5AL on a 321 -- which is the horn I've played the most.
I have learned doing percussion duties that black towels are very useful for any instrument performance. That would definitely include Euphonium, as you can easily get slide grease and water drops on...
When I was in HS (we'll leave it at during the 1980's), we marched military style. We had a very precise and quick "horns up." I marched with an older Yamaha 321, but most of the other Euphs marched...
I would recommend getting a used Yamaha 321 or something similar (King/Besson non-comp, etc.) for now, ignoring dents and other imperfections to the extent they don't affect playability or sound...
I'm renting a Schmidt right now. Just picked it up last Saturday, as a matter of fact. Its a non-comp 3+1 with a large bore.
I'll probably review it in a month or so. The only thing is that I'm a...
