A little late on this, but thanks for all the comments .. and especially to Adrian for his excellent lesson in theory.
Yes, and at 120 bpm it throws you off until you get used to it. It's a distraction.
I have "Fanfare for The Everyday Super Heroes", by Brian Story. It is in the key of C, and has one measure of 3 sets of triplets -- with an A flat and G sharp in the same measure. Why would that be?
I didn't realize they were only for trumpet, but that answers my question. Thanks, David and John.
Does anyone have experience comparing spitballs to blow dry brass for on the fly instrument cleaning? If so, do you have a preference?
Thanks to all, helpful thoughts
Thnx, I'll check it out.
Additionally, could be used or new.
My principal horn is a euph, but I'm thinking of adding a trumpet or cornet to my collection -- for an occasional diversion and maybe some church performances. I like the less brassy and mellow tone...
Both responses are appreciated and helpful, thanks Richard and John. I understand one size doesn't fit all, so I need to work on what improves my playing and increases my enjoyment of this very...
My apologies for the length of my post. As an amateur, I'm always looking for tweaks/enhancements to my practice regimen. When our community band is active, I always have a folder of music for the...
The screw that tightens the adjustable mouthpiece receiver on my Adam's E1 recently snapped in two as I was tightening it -- maybe I was going too tight, I don't know. As an instrument many years...
Very helpful insights. Spread it out through the day. Driving, walking, why not?
Just started into "Also Sprach Arnold Jacobs" for brass wind musicians. In one section, he recommends mouthpiece buzzing of songs 30-60 minutes a day (3.3, pg. 28). He's not saying all at once, but...
But I do like to hear other's performances, just to get inspiration on phrasing and overall treatment of a piece.
Thanks, John, and, no, I'm not crazy about 6 sharps, although the tempo certainly makes it doable. The music's on the way, in E flat. I've been ordering music from Marc Reift in Sweden for a while...
Does anyone know of a recording/performance of "Va, Pensiero"(Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) on euphonium? I'm planning on working it up with piano accompaniment for my church.
My annoying buzz seems to come from my lips.
Yep, seen it advertised. Thanks for the help.
It would help when he throws something at me!
I'm interested in recommendations on a durable stand light. My current light is a couple years old and has begun flickering annoyingly during use. Seems to be the wiring to the unit, as when I jiggle...
Most of my playing life has been in bands, with almost no solo work. I'm a 75 y/o comeback player wanting to do more solos in my church. My question is: how do those of you who do mostly, or at least...
All the mp brushes I've had have a metal shaft, and they eventually rust. Is there a nylon brush out there for euph mp's?
Yep, makes sense. Thanks.
