Fascinating video. Thanks for posting Rick.
Hang in there Dennis!
When "Banding" ceased and I had to put-down my Tuba Quartet, I picked up other musical interests to fill the gap. Last month, I started picking up the horn and just dove...
What older model euph do you have Roger?
Blue Juice. It's reliable, consistent, and keeps the valves and casings clean.
To quote a Monte Python classic, "RUNAWAY!!"
My 5050 is such a beast in the weight category, I don't want to add ANY more weight to it. Also, I'm sure in the manufacturing process there is a point of diminishing returns in adding it to the...
No "smart-alek--ness" taken. Good point! It's the Elgar composition.
Sorry to hear what happened Dennis! Ugh!
Does anyone have a suggestion for a solo arrangement of Pomp and Circumstance that would work well for euph? I found something on Sheet Music Plus for "Music Minus One" for solo trombone and piano...
Not sure what type of felts or valves you have, but on the Miraphone 5050 it has "upstroke silencers" (made of plastic) on the top of the valve to keep them quiet. My 2nd valve had a very noisy...

Take a look at "Morceau Symphonique", originally written for trombone. I played as a college scholarship piece on my Yam YEP-321 a million years ago, and it worked out well for me.
I thought there was one solo at the beginning of the piece.
We played it last year with my community band with three euphs so it was manageable to keep the runs and solos going. We decided to share the solos and also trade off some of the more difficult runs...
Your not alone in your sentiment Mike, I had no clue about comp euphs until I restarted 25 years after college. I played the same Yamaha 321 through high school and college. In fact, the college...
That's because Dachshunds as a breed love to dig in and cocoon themselves inside anything. My two dachsunds always end up together asleep inside small and tight spaces.
Both my dogs, Myles and Ben, are pretty unaffected by my playing, generally falling asleep on the couch when either myself or tuba quartet rehearse in the other room.

If it functions well, just leave it alone and sell it as is. One of the best horns I ever played was my old Besson, until it was stolen many moons ago. The horn looked a little rough, but it sure...
She's an outstanding performer. She used to play a Willson.
Looks like it was relisted and ended. No indication if it was "sold" or not.

Steven Meade came out with a couple of play-along books, which came out with a CD to play with that are helpful. Each track allowed you to switch back and forth to each part. I've found it...
I agree above with the above. However you can always clean it yourself:

I'm pilling on here, but if your in So. Cal, it's the Horn Guys. They usually have a good selection of horns to try, but call in advance to make sure they have it at the location.
I have two K&M stands, one at home and one in my car for practices. It is a very sturdy and well made stand and has no problem holding my heavy Miraphone 5050.
