Euphonium is by far the easiest instrument to play in the low range. I think most people can play almost an octave below the fundamental, which would put you at the 2nd B below the bass clef staff.

I dont usually modify euphoniums, but I have built a couple Frankentubas from scratch, and added 5th valves to tubas (including my king 2280 euphonium)
I have also built and sold heavyweight valve...
Wessex didn't bring one to TMEA. There were a couple prototypes that were in DC that didn't make it to Texas
Find a 3 valve compensating Besson. They are professional quality and very light
2 reasons. I fulfilled a dream of buying a Norwegian star tuba, And selling the adams was the easiest way to pay for one. Also, I have other horns here I enjoy playing almost as much. Since I'm a...
my 5 valve king 2280 and a 3 valve compensating besson
until recently I had a nicer selection at my house than any shop in the area. I sold two of them though, so I'm down to two left.
(sold my packer and my cherished Adams)
For euphoniums? You could try the brook mays near Preston and 635, but TMEA starts today and goes thru Saturday at noon. It's the largest educator convention in the world, and every major vendor...

quick glimpse of it at 5:19. I'll get more on Frdiay

I'm going to TMEA, so if they bring it, I'll research it more and maybe take some video
Played it yesterday. The bell stack is a little taller and thinner than a "normal" euphonium, so the sound isn't quite as rich as what we are all used to, but that's my only complaint with the...
I have bought 2 packer trombones and a chinese made rath r400. I found them to be all excellent quality, and I tell people "if Michael Rath trusts the packer factory to build trombones with his...
you know what would be interesting? (But literally, I know it's not realistic)
take 5 yamaha, 5 willsons, 5 bessons, 5 eastmans... ect ect.... and compare them to each other
thanks. 2280's are so underrated
if you're ever in Texas you can take mine for a spin!
that's really cool. I know there may not be any Chinese copies, (yet) but could you remind me where the E3 chart is?
and is there is chart for the King 2280 vs the yamaha 321?
that was amazing, thank you so much for posting it
makes total sense. Tom has been Mr Zo for a while now. I've played a few of his offerings, but not the euphonium. Good quality stuff
dont base your opinion on the factory that each euphonium is built in on a ten foot observation. look closely, pick them up and play them, look at how the valves are constructed. you'll see the...
when Packer said that, it may have been true for the time
274 by a mile. I have one for sale for a great price, but I dont know how expensive shipping would be. If you are in Texas, let me know
Despite being exposed multiple times by students, friends, and even my daughter and my wife, I've never been tested positive or shown any symptoms
I greatly prefer 4 in line than 3+1, but with that being said, my short action Adams E3 with the sterling silver bell might literally be the best euphonium on the planet
However, if my king 2280...
The only alternate fingering I use on my E3 is 1-2 for the D above the staff
TMEA is cheaper, bigger and warmer!
