What about a 51D? It is similar to the BB1, but its rim isn't as sharp. Also, Parker makes a 51D version.

We are Playing "The Seventh Night of July" by Sakai. It has a measure with an an E natural, E sharp, and F. I keep wanting to play that F as an F sharp!

Hi Dave,
When I try to add downloadable version to the cart, my virus protection finds URL:MAL virus.

What size shank? I have a medium.

Having been raised catholic, I can say that the Church is cheap. In high school, I played quite a few times with a group in various Protestant churches. They always paid $25-50 per player. The few...
This made me think about a time I was ask to play in a small brass group for a church service. We had a brief rehearsal before the service and everything was fine. What they neglected to tell us was...
Mouthpiece placement depends on the person. If someone is telling you that is should be 50/50, they my be very wrong. My placement is about 70/30 on the upper lip. You may consider contacting Doug...
"As I was considering going to the E3, and then later as I was considering going with heavier brass instead of the sterling bell, I did A/B comparison videos. Perhaps they will help you see some of...
FYI. The Giddings Brandon Jones and the Warburton are completely different designs.

You are correct. The BB1 is based on the 51D. Dave Houser designed the cup with feedback from Brian Bowman. Dave said the cup has a strange, but it was the one that Bowman liked the best.

Keep in mind that the 52D has less depth than the 51D. The 52E2 is slightly deeper than the 51D, but the rim is thinner and more rounded; and for me much less comfortable than the 51D. You may want...
Adding to Dave's and Barry's responses, pay extra close attention to the groove in the valve casing in which the valve guide moves. It is easy to get some gunk in the groove. Also, try cleaning out...
Hi D.M.
You say that the BB1 gives you a good high and low range with a singing quality. So what do you like better about the SM4U?
I have used a 51D, BB1 and various Wicks in the past. Out of...

Pines of Rome — lots of B naturals. I believe Rocky Point Holiday goes to C# and Aegean Festival Overture goes to D.
Where is the pain?

I prefer the Q41. It sounds sweeter, cleaner, and more agile

I think even that would be better than dealing with a musicians mask. Getting the mouthpiece in the opening takes some fiddling around. So you need to leave the mouthpiece in the mask unless you have...
This is the type that out conductor purchased. Found it hard to use. It's difficult to get the mouthpiece throughout the flap and the flap has a tendency to get between the mouthpiece and lip when...
Any recommendation for face masks? Our conductor bought masks, but while they might work for trumpet etc., they don't work well for euphonium. The hole is too small and the mask keeps getting under...
This raises a question for me. When should consider replacing a pro horn? I have used the same Willson 2900 for 37 years. It was picked by Brian Bowman from a group that came in, so i know that it...
While that is certainly true, it is not the only consideration.

My community band (which is actually part of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA)) is starting up rehearsals at the end of August. I was looking forward to getting back to it, but given the...
If you let the crud build up enough, it works just like heavy weight caps!

Try pouring water down the bell and the emptying it out. It may just be in the main wrap of tubing below the bell.
