That's really unfortunate! A case failing because of staples being used instead of appropriate hardware. No excuse for that on a nearly $10K horn.

Thanks Dennis. I forget the model number of his euph but it's an older Miraphone. Similar shape to that of the 186 tuba. His bell does go the wrong way, but... with us sitting next to the tubas now...

You really can’t polish lacquered horns. As you mentioned the lacquer will come off. Some folks use Pledge furniture polish and a lint-free cloth.

Yes, the ports for valve 1 and 3 on most euphoniums are close to lining up but it’s not great.
