Shipping isn't all that much, you're going to pay some no matter where you're sending it... I have threaded several mouthpieces for people in other countries. I charge $60 plus shipping.
When I started making mouthpieces in 1981, there were just about three companies that offered plastic mouthpieces. Giardinelli made acrylic (Plexiglass) rims - disadvantages include: they break...
You have an instructor who doesn't know the difference between a 1G and a 2G?
The LT 101 is a little bigger than 6-1/1AL's are supposed to be, although some of them are that size.
The plastic rim is Polycarbonate, not Acrylic. It's not supposed to break, but sometimes they...
Keep the euphonium and kick the kids out!
Easy for me to say with no kids....
And I lived with my parents into my 20's...
The same letter should be the same depth, but the thumb test may be deceptive trying to compare between different series because a larger series will be wider..
It is entirely possible to double like that quite successfully. Four different rim sizes is possible, but I would probably suggest limiting it to 3 by using the bass trombone rim size on euphonium. ...
I just want to thank all you guys for the positive vibes. Actually I met Snorlax a year ago, and we talked about a mouthpiece but I never sent it...
I can also thread a Wick (and modify if...
The "superiority" of Titanium Nitride coating ends when you drop it and it dents. Brass is relatively soft and TiN is extremely hard, so it cracks and there's no way to repair it.
If you're coming from a Wick 7C and larger mouthpiece feel like you're drowning in them, it's very possible your particular embouchure type won't support a big mouthpiece and you should stay smaller...
Charley Brighton uses my Wide 116 rim on euphonium. He has my K, L, and M cups for different instruments.
All very big but it works for him and he sounds fantastic.
The Wide rim has the contour...
Sorry, I actually am making rims right now and I'll do them today or over the weekend.
After TMEA I accidentally messed up a large batch of rim blanks and then had nothing to work with. ... Making...
It sounds like that instrument needs a medium depth cup, and anything deeper makes it play flat and lose its character.
With my system you can put any rim size you like on a medium depth cup...
You guys who doubt that a very large rim will still sound like a euphonium might be very surprised - for someone who actually NEEDS a big rim.
Have you heard Charley Brighton? He plays on my 116...
You can also reach me on Skype. I have been very surprised by how well it works for lessons and mouthpiece advice.
Depending on where in Indiana you are, I'm on the road right now and I'll be driving across I-70 on Sunday, stopping in Franklin to teach a forum member. I'm on a 3 week teaching and masterclass...
That picture definitely looks like it could be the "Remington" taper of .030 per inch, but a smaller size than the 88H shank, closer to a "Euro euph" shank size but with that amount of taper. I...
I'm not sure exactly the specs of the Conn euph receiver but I'm pretty sure it is entirely unrelated to what is considered a "Remington" shank as found on old 88H's. That is a completely different...
Is there some reason why somebody shouldn't be interested in their own products?
I certainly answer all emails and phone calls myself.
And yes, Denis is extremely nice and knowledgeable and...
There are different embouchures that work for different people, because everybody has a unique face with different lip lengths, textures, and thicknesses, and different teeth and jaw formations. ...
Contact me if you want suggestions. There are several possibilities you should try.
A person with large lips who happens to be the embouchure type that needs a large rim will play better on large mouthpieces.
I sent a PM, check your messages.
I think you got an adaptor for European euphonium shank instead of a large (bass) shank. But a correct-fitting mouthpiece is a better solution than a...
It would be interesting to put together a list of all the euph players in all of the DC bands, and their equipment - both current equipment and what they were using when they won the audition.
