Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the tip. They don't have any atm atleast. If anyone knows of any finger buttons that fit i don't mind if it mismatches. I did happen to have a trumpet one that fits that will do for now....
I have somehow lost the valve button for the 4th valve on my vintage besson new standard. They are the older taller and narrower style. Any idea where or how i could get a replacement?
What are considered the best intermediate horns in your opinion? Let's not include the likes of wessex and mack brass. Let's talk specifically about four valve non-compensating euphoniums currently...
I think I have finally figured out my "sound concept" for my besson new standard. I play a 1968 medium shank horn with a BB1 mouthpiece. I have tried the sm4 and honestly, the BB1 might not sound...
After reading some threads about mouthpiece choices I started thinking. Many of the older players on the forum went through college playing small horns with shallow (by today's standards anyway)...
Just curious, what is the most unusual instrument, euphoniums and baritones in particular, that you have ever seen or heard of? The horn that had I believe seven different bells that adolphe sax...
I believe that the elite V has the bore and bell of the yamaha 642. I thought custom shop was just yo indicqte the silver and gold trim
They each have different bell and bore configurations. Maybe some other differences. This will affect sound of course as well as response.
I can't believe someone bought that thing
This model typically comes with a small shank receiver, while the step up one has a large shank. The JEP1020 as it is now called (formerly 570). The small shank 4 top line valves you are refering to...
It's an okay horn build wise. It's sort of a cheaper answer to the Yamaha 321. It has a sort of edgy sound. I really prefer the next model up. Their non comp 3+1 sounds and plays so much more like a...
Jupiter Quantums, at least their baritones, have a HUGE sound. I actually really like them. We march them at my college. I marched with Southwind last year, we marched on some old dynasty baritones....
On top of technique and musicality, practice getting in shape. Practice playing with good posture, and discipline. In addition to sounding good, you also have to be able to look the part as well....
I can tell you personally that when I switched from the small shank Jupiter 4v euphonium to the large shank one, the sound opened up alot. I was using an almost identical mouthpiece at the time. So...
How would a large shank receiver affect the sound of the instrument?
You may also want to consider this mouthpiece. It's bigger than a 51D, but not too big. The Yamaha 53h...
I would say it depends on what you are looking for sound and feel wise that the schilke 51D doesn't offer then go from there. If you did not like the 4AL I would probably steer clear of Denis Wick...
Certainly interested, I'll keep my eye on those.
Certainly on my list. I was curious if I could get a better deal on a beater mouthpiece. I guess I should have specified if anyone could do better than $40 of course, I do not intend to rip someone...
I'm looking for a mouthpiece to use in small shank instruments. Something along the lines of a 51d or 5g kind of cup. I'm asking for around a $40 ish price for a reasonable condition.
Haha, thanks for the suggestion! There are some good sounding practice rooms at my school I could probably utilize. I will definitely try the mic placement suggestion as well. My valves are pretty...
Thanks guys =) the arrangement is on musescore.org if y'all want it. I made a thread about it in euph music when I wrote it.
I believe it's already in wav. It should be anyway
I made this using Audacity and a cheap Logitech USB mic. The arrangement is also by me. Hope you enjoy
