Hi Sean,
What have you settled on, if I may ask? Recall you had a Wilson and Geneva before the E1, so I got curious (tried to search your older posts for clues but had no luck )

Hi Sean,
What have you settled on, if I may ask? Recall you had a Wilson and Geneva before the E1, so I got curious (tried to search your older posts for clues but had no luck )
Revisiting this thread as we are doing this piece this year. And I realised I've been treating the line as a slur all these while! Very good tips here and on Mr. Werden's video
Happy birthday john!!
Been enjoying the different reviews of these horns. Thank you Jim and everyone who put time into it.
*steps off the lawn*
Sounds great! Thanks for taking the time to review it. It's a bit unfortunate that it feels to me like the community in general still struggle to accept China-made instruments (especially the ones...
Sounds like a great buy, especially from how John is raving so much about it.
I personally use Caruso's method and Julie Landsman's version lately, she has some really interesting exercises.
The half valve approach is definitely very handy! Thank you for the video! After watching it, against all common sense, I tried to do it while I was playing for a teacher, and I messed up big time!...
I am so fascinated by this talk of floating leadpipe. What would happen if we try to detach our leadpipes on other makes and make them floating leadpipes? Haha. The only time I've had a "floating"...
I have been using this as my ringtone. Yes, it's from anime, but it's not an "anime" sounding piece. It's a brass and double bass quartet piece I believe. Euph, trumpet, tuba and double bass.

I concur ;) . Don't know many players who uses a Neo, so it's always sad to see 1 leaves. Actually, I don't think I know anyone who uses a Neo except Jim.
You're selling your Neo? This is a bit of a shocker for me
Have you unscrew your vales, take it halfway out of the valve and put it back in? That's to try and re-seat the springs. Mead springs will not sit as nicely on the JP line since Mead springs are...
Placed an order on Amazon JP on Sunday! Looking forward to listening to the full album! ;)
I would definitely love to read your thoughts on the comparison between the AB Doubler and the Yamaha Neo that you are using now!
Looking forward to your review!
So it seems like I finally internalized how the embouchure should work when going into the high range. Or maybe I've gotten it wrong, please feel free to correct me or point out some different...
Yamaha made horns have quite loose slides, I have the same issue and I switched over to thicker slide gel to solve the issue. (partly because I didn't want to send it to the tech just yet.)
Congratulations! It looks quite well maintained! Enjoy!
Oh, perhaps I misremembered or the regional pricing is lightly different. Horns are so expensive huh x.x
That definitely sounds high. But admittedly, I am unsure of the full price of a new Geneva. The Besson feels a bit overpriced for the age. As much as it is great to have a piece of history, I am...
As a fellow amateur musician, 10 minutes is definitely not enough, but 10 minutes is better than none at all .So I'd still do it. There have been times I've only do 10 minutes. Most of the time it's...
You can try searching on the forum, as I remember there's a least 1 person who has the Oldroyd Cardinal.
If you want to compare the Oldroyd Cardinal to the old Besson, I think the choice is a...
Thanks for this, sir! Reading your reply, I suddenly realised I should be more intentional in doing scales. Been just taking 2-4 random scales to do each practice session. But probably picking 1 or 2...
Try reaching out to him on Facebook too! Haven't tried pm-ing him here, but he was responsive on Facebook! Hope your issue gets sorted out soon, 2 months is definitely too long!!
It's quite easy for me, as a hobbyist to fall into this trap of wanting all of these accessories that may just slightly help me to play better. Thankfully been focusing more on practicing...
