Only the main tuning slide has a water key. BTW, there is NO “inner tube” to match the diameter of the slide in either of the long 3rd valve tubes.
My YEP321S was built in 2005 and the first and third valve slides are not only the same length but are interchangeable.
Dave, If you go to the Taps Across America Website they explain that they will allow all musical instruments to participate in this event. You have until noon today to sign up!
I emailed, BandAndOrchestra@yamaha.com ,and they responded that my YEP 321S serial number 370737 was built in the early part of 2005. Give it a try! and Good Luck!
Yamaha 321s is 6.3cm.
I plan on being there. Tuba Christmas St Paul, Minnesota December the 8th!

According to the Album cover Dick Slyde Hyde dubbed the Euphonium in on at least one of the albums tracks. I believe I can hear it being played on “Are The Good Times Really Over”.
Right on Mr. Merrill! So many times I have seen someone take a piece of junk and make it sound like a Stradivarius! It’s all in the artist. Tuba Skinny, Absolutely Fantastic!

I have access to a piston-rotor G-Bugle, which I plan to use as my trumpet chops are not where I would want them to be for this sort of performance.
I am curious. Since...
Have fun in Phoenix! 151 of us attended the St Paul MN Tuba Christmas on the 3rd of December. We had a great time! During the rehearsal the conductor asks a series of questions, one of which is. Who...
I play a Blessing 350 which is reported to be a US YEP 201 clone and have found that if the spit valve is open or leaking you will experience the problem that you posted.
What I have done for years is to "drip" one drop of beeswax on the female section of the tubing and then scrape most of it off with my fingernail. This method will hold the slide very well. A little...
Leave it up. It sounds fantastic to me!
You have to remember, that what you think is your "worst day" is actually ten times better then most of our "best days"!
You are a Professional.
I agree with all of the above but for one exception. I am using WD-40 as a mild "corrosion inhibitor" not a lubricant. WD-40 works great as short term (2 months) corrosion inhibitor especially on...
I have always sprayed a little WD-40 on all of the threaded parts of my horns during assembly and have never had any issues with "stuck" caps.
With the passing of Merle Haggard last week l dug out my vinyl copy of his "Big City" album and spun it on the turntable. Dick "Slyde" Hyde plays euphonium on this album. I think Merle was the only...
Thanks for the advice. Your comments are greatly appreciated.
