To all:
Pulled a finger button off my New Standard 484___.
My screw ID gauge says it is an 8-32, number 8 bolt with 32 thread.

Hi Micah,
Musical Instrument City of Rangeley, Maine periodically has some interesting older stuff.
Some years back I picked up a Besson 4v non compensator from him.
Horn is circa 1903-1908...
Susan,
Here is a single data point on an old Besson Euphonium: 4 Valve, Serial Number 81121, vintage 1903-1908, non-compensating, silver plate, intended for U.S.
It is a bit older than yours, still...
Cappy,
Any details on your Double Bells?
Already have a Conn 30I.
Thanks,
Jim
Nice looking Double Bell.
The general shape is like my 1936 30I.
Agree it is a standard action.
The one pic showing a valve casing bottom does not match the 30I short action bottom.
Suspect it it...
Good luck with your double bell.
Tidbit of good news. The first valve is probably common with a King Single Bells of the era.
Is valve 1 missing in its entirety or just the stem and button? Stem...
I think you have a reasonable double bell at a reasonable price.
You have some headroom for reasonable repairs / maintenance.
The layout on your Holton is similar to what I have on a 1924 Buescher,...
Tink5775,
Condition is probably as important or more important for valuing a Double Bell than for a modern player.
I have a silver 1941 Holton Double Bell with 5 front action valves, engraved with...
Doug,
Congratulations if that is what you wanted to do.
Do not let the thinning out idea spread too far. I will be in trouble.
Your Constellation years say you are a young guy.
Jim
Tohsy,
Your mouthpiece pics match my observations on an old Buescher mouthpiece receiver.
I agree with Snorlax that a Bach 6-1/2 AL is a better starting place for the horn.
At one point I was...
Tohsy,
Does the medium shank mouthpiece really fit correctly?
I have a 1924 Buescher Double Bell that seems to need something smaller than a medium (euro) shank mouthpiece, but slightly larger than...
Sounds like a place to revisit one of my old questions.
In my collection is a 1924 Buescher Double Bell.
Mouthpiece receiver appears to be in good shape and unmodified.
It appears to need...
Sorry I did not see your question earlier.
I have several double bells. Not all Conns.
I would look for cannibalization candidates, single bell or double to start.
A couple of my horns came...
Cappy,
Good Luck with your project.
I have three 5 valve ones: one from my dad and two I acquired via EBay. Spent several years watching for them.
Recommend getting as detailed info on...
Looks like a nice early example. I have a 1905ish Conn Double Bell in my collection. Serial Numbers give us a good date approximation, but it seems few companies still have really accurate data for...
Trying to attach some pics of the 1905-08, ser 81121, showing the similarities with the 1892.

Unfortunately, cannot add any info on 5 valve "Prototype" Euphonium fingerings.
Have a Besson 4 valve Non-Compensating "Prototype" Euphonium circa 1905-08.
Design is very similar to the 1892...
Thanks Barry.
I agree. Do not think there is much in the way of applicable New Old Stock out there.
Basically trying to find out if there is a Besson specialist out there that has a few euphonium...
To All:
My collection includes a couple of older Bessons: 1905 - 1909ish 4 Valve Chicago Bore, small shank, non-compensator (condition iffy); and a 1960ish 4 valve, bell front compensator...
A Bach 4G requires serious chops.
I found the Denis Wick 6BM / 6BS (reasonably close to a Bach 6 1/2 AL) worked well for me originally shifting to New Standard and older Bessons from my Conn.
I use a Bach 6 1/2 AL on my CONN 30I and Holton Double Bells. It seems to work fine.

Have some pics of a 1901 Conn 4 valve Double Bell Euph case.
Could not get them to insert.
May be a size issue I am not aware of.

Altieri made a gig bag for my 1941 Holton 5 valve double bell. It is very nice.
Also, have a Conn similar to, but slightly older than your 1917, with an original case in pretty rough condition....
I have a 1960 ish Besson, 4 valve, compensating, removable bell, euphonium in my collection.
Love the way it sounds. I use a Denis Wick, 6BM euro shank, mouthpiece with it.
It is significantly...
