This is the horn, hopefully I uploaded it correctly.
Hello everyone! I am seeking the wisdom of the older players who have a well rounded knowledge of American Style Euphoniums.
So after years of buying, selling, and trading to amass a collection of...
Hello Everyone, how are y'all doing this summer?
This summer has yielded some very unexpected goodies. Me being the instrument geek I am, I am always looking for horns to add to my collection. So...
It's just the specific 642 I'm using. It has terrible valve action and response. I've played other ones that I have really liked. Its just that this one isn't that good of a horn. I've had the other...
Hello everyone! How are y'all doing today? I have returned to the forum to seek advice.
So recently, I have came into some money, and with this money, I have the opportunity to upgrade. I am...
Hello everyone! How is everybody doing? It has been a while since I have posted on the forum(I was still a Junior in High School, but now I'm going to be a college freshman). Geez time flies by. So...
I too was at TMEA today and spent some time at the John Packer booth. I was fairly impressed. Of all the horns I played today, Adams, John Packer, Tuba Exchange, Miraphone, Besson, Tempest, and...
I do agree with it not being comfortable to hold. I don't know if it's just my Besson, but the leadpipe is a lot lower than most horns.I have to hold the horn up a good amount to get it to reach.
I use the Wick with the King for mainly auditions and solo performances(I used to use a Boosey and Hawkes Sovereign). Thats when I want my warmest sound. As for the 5G/51D with my besson, that's...
I use the Denis Wick for my school's King 2280. The Besson does have a euro shank but it came with a small shank adapter and a Yamaha 51D (really good small shank mouthpiece for me). I use that for...
The horn is indeed a 3 valve compensator with upright valves and forward bell. I believe it is a new standard. In terms of finish for mine, it's all lacquered. A little old but it has a lot of...
Hello fellow euphonium and tuba players. It has been a while since I posted something. I am here because about a month ago, I was able to win a gem off ebay, a Besson 3v Comp with a forward bell....
Yikes. Oh well. I now know not to be drawn onto anything that looks shiny :P
This is what I had in mind: http://www.ebay.com/itm/361825956280?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Hello all. I have a quick question. If I were to get a beater euphonium to put some restoration into and it were missing valves, how much would it cost to find replacement valves? I know this is a...
Thanks for the input everyone. I intend to find great use for the horn. I'm gonna try to find a mouthpiece that would really make the horn sing. I currently use a Yamaha 58L for lower range stuff and...
Hello gents, I'm here for some input. I know this is something to ask on the trombone forum but I'm too lazy to register and feel more comfortable asking yall. I want to know about the King 5b. Is it...
Back in 7th grade my parents got me a Mendini euphonium. At the time, I didn't know good from bad but about a year later I realized how bad the horn was. Tuning was terrible. The horn was terribly...
I may be jumping in late on this thread but as I was reading, the whole "putting a B&H Globe Stamp against an Adams E3" thing interested me and reminded me of when I went to TMEA this past February....
Hello everyone. I was on the Conn-Selmer website looking around at horns. I've noticed they've had the same few euphoniums on there for a long time. Am I the only one that's waiting for Conn or King...
I have cleaned the horn in the past and recently have been checking the corks. The corks seem to be in great shape. I'll check each tuning slide like you said and see the results. The horn is in...
Hello again fellow euphonium players. I need a bit of help. To begin, our band will be participating in The Festival of Flowers, and we are beginning to practice our marching again. We are getting...
I wouldn't say Jupiter's low brass is THAT bad. Our school has a silver Jupiter 4 valve tuba (I don't remember the model) that I mess around on occasionally and it has a pretty good sound. The tuning...
Sounds amazing! I'm thinking about getting one of these in the future when I get the money for one.
I began on the clarinet (a Normandy) back in 6th grade. My director threw me on it for reasons unknown. At the time we had a terrible director who didn't teach that well. Throughout the whole year I...
