David Maslanka: Symphony Number 4
Here's a link to a spot where you can hear and pay to buy circus music in a group with Harvey Phillips himself on tuba:

I had one for a while as a second horn. It's a very good clone of the Besson Sovereign 967, both in paying feel and sound. I sold it because I was playing an Adams E1 pretty much exclusively.

My favorite is the Martin Ellerby Euphonium Concerto. It works for me on many levels--musical, technical, and, at times, spiritual. About 15 years ago I had the privilege of performing it with an...
The very earliest Tubenet from maybe 20 years or so ago was great, a community which came together and was excited about sharing information. All was fresh and the discussions full and lengthy. But...
My opinion, as someone who owns a Sonic, is to get the 4 valve and not a special order and likely much more expensive 5 valve. The Sonic is a fine, high quality instrument; and the facility and...
I don't know where the horn is now. The photo was taken in 2014 not long after I got it. I later sold it by consignment through the Tuba Exchange when I wanted to buy an E2. Ultimately I decided the...
My first Adams, an E1 with a sterling silver bell.

So how did the blacklisting show--did you try to buy and were refused? Or something more subtle?
It's very doable, and if tightly played with a light touch on the euphonium, doubled on the octave with the bass, would sound quite good.

Four minutes of terrific playing by Fernando Deddos.
More rare than unique. May be the kind of modification that has become obsolete with the arrival of inexpensive compensating euphoniums.

"I wonder if we'll start to see more "lightweight" euphoniums designed more for the singing sound they produce and less for trying to make them into sound cannons."
I think the Adams Sonic fits...
That was very nice, nicely played. Thanks.
Just a note on the Alliance E2 Larry is selling. I play on that mp and to me (but maybe no one else) it plays like a perfected SM3U. If you play on a Wick 3 size mp, and are not totally satisfied,...
I use an Alliance E2
I have a minority opinion, just don't like the Bonna case. It seems overstuffed and clumsy. I am a gig bag user all the way.
I've owned a Sonic for a year, got one right after they were introduced. It plays beautifully, is super resonant, and is very much like the E1 as Dave notes. But it is not a bargain horn and will...
A lot of the change since last November might be the exchange rate for dollar/euro. The Euro is low and costs much less in dollars than it did last year. Not surprising they don't have the Adams in...
The Alliance E series would be worth considering, especially if you like the SM4U. The E3 is the same diameter as the SM4U, with a more comfortable rim, in my opinion, than the SM4U. I find it plays...
Well, I've owned a Miraphone 5050 and an Adams E2. I was quite happy with the 5050, playing it for a year or so in both wind and brass bands. I had to quit because arthritis in my hands made playing...
It sounds like a double buzz. I had one during a period when I was playing a great deal and my embouchure needed more rest than I was giving it. It cleared up when I started putting in rest days when...
Cool gadget.
But wow! What a great performance.
Just a quick note on the Sonic. It's lighter but not smaller in any way, and of course un-compensated.
And the Yamaha 842 (compensated) is a little more friendly for smaller hands and reach, but...
