In the US the british baritone is a rare instrument. When I've asked for baritone subs in our band I have to reach out to euphonium players AND I have to provide them an instrument. Literally...
I think I asked around about the DC transcribed version a year or so ago and they said they are waiting for world premiere's first before they can publish and the pandemic caused delays to this. But...
I responded via PM but my advice for auditioning for a brass band on Euphonium is as follows:
-If they ask you to just come to rehearsal to sub, make sure you know the music you are playing...
Missed this thread, but all of you Philly people need to check out Atlantic Brass Band - they rehearse at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ and are a championship NABBA band. My first brass band...
Ok perfect - I had guessed based on holding it the Adams HBC was significantly lighter than the Ray Farr HBC so to see the actual weights makes me feel better about the purchase! And between Adams...
I bought one of these for my Adams and can't wait for it to arrive. I was very impressed with the Ray Farr HBC for the Prestige I had for a hot minute. Being able to dial in the sound with weight...
Is this the solo euph for Frontier? She sounds amazing on the Neo and already gets a very beautiful british sound with that Wick ultra mp. That being said, aside from adjusting to intonation...
Contact Matt van Emmerick and ask him if he can help you - you might be able to attend a Victoria Brass rehearsal and play his Shires which could help. Matt also previously endorsed Adams and can...
Could be paralysis by analysis. Take some time off, get your head straight and try to come back to the reason you play in the first place. Why did you start playing as a child - what excited you...
I posted last summer about how my local technician, with help from Miel, retrofitted my SS E3 to this reverse slide in an attempt to reduce secondary vibrations I was getting with the trigger...
SOLD
I'm selling the brand new, never used Ray Farr 4th Valve Heavy Bottom Cap I purchased when I ordered a Prestige 2052-8G last year. Sold the horn, forgot I had this. It is gold plated to...
John Caputo, of San Antonio Brass Band plays a 2051
I use Blue Juice due to my chemistry but my tech HATES it and says it has too much alcohol and leaves residue on the valves when the alcohol evaporates. He likes Ultra-Pure. I had a lot of success...
I posted a screenshot on my FB because the CC says "Tuba Playing" and we very well know it's a bloody Euphonium!
If I ever hear my phone ring I've made a mistake - it is permanently on silent/vibrate.
Here is the conversation I had with the seller after pointing this mistake out. I didn't respond to him as I'm not interested in the horn but so you all know what his thoughts were.
The person listing the item directly told me it was Demondrae's horn when I made a (fairly low) offer. That was wrong and I've informed him but I don't know if that will cause the price to change.
Update from Professor Thurman:
"Hi Jacob. I hope all is well. I know this horn well but I didn't play it. It was played by my colleague Patrick Schulz. It's a terrific instrument and would be in...
All,
Here is an e-bay listing for a Besson 2051 not owned by Demondrae Thurman but owned by Patrick Shulz and played in Sotto Voce as confirmed by Professor Thurman.
Besson 2051 Silver Euphonium-...
I just e-mailed info@seshires.com and they sent it to me and didn't ask me to keep it secret or anything so I figured anyone can do it. They said they are waiting for official professional pictures...
Here are the specs and retail pricing Shires shared with me regarding the two custom Euphs. My local Eastman/Shires dealer is ordering two horns for demo purposes but does not expect any order, new...
I found on all the Adams I've played that Blue Juice works the best for me and my chemistry. I picked up a set of those cleaning spitballs and any valve problems quickly go away. For springs, the...
The new 2052 8G I received had a ton of gunk at the bottom of the valves, indicating previous play and non-cleaning. I recommend giving the horn a bath with snakes and clean that gunk out.
Someone here may be selling their E3 with SS bell, trigger and short action valves. Something to consider if budget is a concern.
