I haven't spent considerable time playing on the size 3 mouthpieces (they feel a bit too big for me), but I've switched from the SM4 to the SM4U about a year ago.

I found the comment about the lack of a trigger to be interesting. It's noteworthy that Yamaha is the only major contender that doesn't provide a trigger out of the factory, and I've always wondered...

I play on a 642. I've never used the 451 long-term, but I've sat down and blown through one a few times. The sound is dark and heavy compared to the Yamaha... if you really want a dark sound, I don't...
