It's interesting to note that John Clough and Trevor Groom only played Imperials/New Standards & not Sovereigns.
As far as I know the handrest changed with introduction of the Prestige, also Sovereigns made after this had the main tuning slide without the brace obviously to save costs. My band provided 2015...

I had the use of an 842 from the band I was playing for about 6 months & found it worked better with the 3AL. With my 967 I still prefer the SM3.vbmodified
