    Valves of a new euphonium

    Hello everyone.

I've bought a Thomann EP902S B-stock ( a 4-valve compensating euphonium). The intonation is quite good and the intonation tendency is similar to the BE765 (4-valve non-comp) I play in church.

The 4th valve is very smooth without oiling. But the other 3 valves are less smooth and I have to oil them daily. Is this normal? Anything I can do? Anything I need to pay attention to with a new instrument ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Check out this thread:

It has some simple, good advice that has produced very good results.

There are probably other discussions on the site as well, but this one covers the basics.
