  1. Good Cheer Collection Recorded by the Triangle Tuba Quartet

Several years ago at the request of the late Bob Brule, founder of Cimarron Music, I arranged 16 Christmas songs into a book called the Good Cheer Collection. My goal was to make the arrangements easy enough to be played by a high school or amateur group, but musically enjoyable for both the players and audience.

I am pleased to announce that 12 of the pieces in the collection have just been recorded by the Triangle Tuba Quartet. Their CD is called Christmas Ornaments and contains a very ...
  2. Recording or Dubbing Old LP's and Tapes to Your Computer

I have recently begun to transfer many of my old recordings into digital format so I could play them on my computer or make CD's from them. It was always too hard to do until I found a great solution called INport. It hooks to my stereo's line output and then to my computer's USB port. Software is included that can record and can also split an entire LP side into individual tracks. I am enjoying music I haven't listened to for a long, long time. Here is a URL to lean more or buy the adaptor: ...

Most members find real value in their quarterly ITEA Journal, which has articles, music and recording review, ...

  6. Fast Warm-Up with a Cold Horn

Living in Minnesota, it is pretty common to walk into a gig with a very cold horn. With euphonium and tuba, it is difficult to get them up to temperature quickly. But even more importantly, performing your own warm-up on a cold mouthpiece can be bad for your chops.

When I am in this situation, the first thing I do is grab my mouthpiece and go to find a faucet. Run some warm water through the mouthpiece. While are at it, get a paper towel and twist one corner of it to make a spike ...
