Rafael Mendez, for those who don't know, was an amazing trumpet player, active during the 1950's through 1960's especially. Despite the outstanding brass players one can hear today, no one has quite matched Mendez's excitement and fluidity of technique. His playing is a wonderful model for any brass player.
